Products We Love

Not surprisingly, the reading, learning, caring, and loving intention that went into having an unmedicated birth for the well being of our baby didn’t stop when he was born… in fact that was only the beginning for us. We started reading the backs of the baby oil, soaps, and lotions given to us at baby showers, and turned to our friend Google each time there was an ingredient we couldn’t pronounce. Pretty soon we became fans of Waleda natural baby care soaps, diaper cream, and shampoo.

Moby Baby Carrier
The 18 feet of knit organic cotton wraps around you and your baby for a very custom and secure fit. You can carry them in the front, back, inward facing, outward facing, or all curled up in their fetal position. Works with newborns to 35 pound babies. We loved it for the first two months especially! Make sure to make the final cross of fabric in back and tie in front for low back support.

Ergo Baby Carrier
This is one of the ONLY baby carriers that actually gives you low back support. It is also supposed to ease the pressure on the baby’s spine to facilitate proper development.

Seventh Generation Diapers and Wipes
Until such a time that we have access to a washer and dryer for cloth diapers, these diapers certainly do the job with slightly less harm done to the environment and our baby’s bum. Another bonus is that they’re a natural color, which looks good under thin baby clothing (better than Pooh Bear looking through your pants).

Bath Tub
This bath tub has a sling or hammock for the baby to lay in while you bath him. This has made the first two months much more relaxing than it could have been. As the baby grows, there are non-slip seats and foot rests to keep him upright.

Bed Time Essentials
We love the idea of our co-sleeper which is secured to the side of our bed. We can reach out and comfort our baby - though in reality he just likes coming in our warm bed. To help him get comfortable and fall asleep in the co-sleeper we use:

  1. a plush blanket to pad the very firm mattress (at some point the preventative SIDS measures become so uncomfortable babies won’t sleep in my opinion and observation).
  2. a rice pack heated in the microwave for 1:30 to preheat his bed. When we lay him down we leave the rice pack by his back or tummy so he thinks he’s close to our bodies.
  3. a Boppy pillow to section off 1/3 of the co-sleeper so he feels secure.

Nursing
I appreciate the support the Boppy pillow gives me when nursing. Noah also feels more secure on the pillow than just on my arm. For times when I’m away from him and have to pump breast milk, I’ll use AVENT pumps and bottles. The appeal to me is that I can pump directly into the bottle (no tiny tubes that are impossible to clean). Also the AVENT electric pump is small and compact, runs on battery or with an AC adapter, and memorizes your pumping speed! The other “must” in my opinion are washable breast pads - why use another disposible product when you can toss them in the laundry?
